Anoka-Ramsey Community College is pleased to welcome Andy Aspaas as Interim Academic Dean for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).  Aspaas has been on the faculty of the college’s Chemistry Department since 2004.

Aspaas earned a bachelor of arts degree in Chemistry from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and a master of science degree in Organic Chemistry from the University of Minnesota. In 2012, he was named an Educator of the Year by the Minnesota State Board of Trustees.

At Anoka-Ramsey, he has served as MSCF chapter president and grievance rep, division chairs for both Physical Science/Engineering and Biology/Biomedical Engineering, co-chair of the Technology and Facilities Advisory Committees, and co-chair of the ARCC/ATC Strategic Planning Task Force. For Minnesota State, Aspaas has served as chair of the Academic and Student Affairs Technology Council.

He says stepping into this role will allow him to contribute to the college’s vibrant academic community from a new perspective.

“I’ve always felt that being a part of leadership would be a chance for me to give back to Anoka-Ramsey,” Aspaas says.  “We have some amazing faculty members doing innovative, amazing things. This is a new way for me to support that work.”
