Mosaic is the art of creating images by the assembling together of small pieces of colored glass, stone or other materials to make a larger piece of beautiful artwork. These pieces of stone or glass, known as tesserae, come in various shapes, sizes and colors.
While glass and stone are not assembled in the Mosaic Cultural Center at Anoka-Ramsey Community College, the daily goal is to create a space to serve as a social network to bring together the college’s diverse group of students and to share their personal cultures and stories. The Mosaic Cultural Center supports academic achievement, leadership and development. In so doing, it becomes a global mosaic, giving voices to a variety of cultural thoughts, ideas and world views.
The Mosaic Cultural Center is also a place to study, relax, check email, meet new people and learn more about others to increase cultural awareness and to celebrate the rich contributions of all cultures to our world.
