Visiting Student: Non-Minnesota State Student

GETTING STARTED

If you're a student at the University of Minnesota, a private college or university, or an out-of-state institution, and you want to take a course or two at Anoka-Ramsey without pursuing a degree, please follow the steps below.

If you're currently enrolled at another Minnesota State institution, please refer to the steps for Visiting Students at Minnesota State.

Admissions Checklist

  1. Verify Credits Transfer Back

Before registering, confirm with your home institution how the courses you wish to take at ARCC will transfer back. Please note that the receiving institution determines course transferability.

  2. Apply to Anoka-Ramsey

To apply for admission to ARCC, complete the online application. There is no application fee.

Be sure to save your StarID and password in a secure location, as you'll need them to register for courses and access your student email, among other services.

After you submit your application, watch for an email regarding your enrollment status.

  3. Optional Online Orientation

Online orientation is not mandatory for visiting students. However, you are still responsible for understanding the add/drop and payment deadlines, as well as ARCC’s academic policies and how to access the technology required for your classes.

To have your orientation hold removed for registration as a visiting student, please complete this survey.

If you would like to participate in online orientation, please email orientation@anokaramsey.edu to request access.

  4. Register for Your Course(s)

    • Log into your eServices account with your StarID and password.
    • Navigate to Courses & Registration on the left and select Search for a Course.
    • Enter your course search criteria.
    • Select your desired course and click the add button (+) on the left.
    • Click OK on the pop-up to go to Review My Plan.
    • Check the box next to the course to select it, then click the blue Select Course(s) to Proceed to Register button.
    • Enter your StarID password and click the blue Register button to complete your registration.
    Courses with Prerequisites

If the course has prerequisites, please complete the Prerequisite Registration form for help with your registration. Be sure to attach a copy of your transcript.

  5. Set Up Your Tuition and Fees Payment

Explore your payment options here. You must set up your payment before the tuition payment deadline to avoid being dropped from your courses.

As a visiting student, please note that you are not eligible for financial aid at ARCC.

  6. Find Your Course Materials / Textbooks

To locate the required textbooks and course materials, please visit the Campus Store's website.

  7. Access Technology Resources

  8. Request Credit Transfer

After your final grades for the semester have been posted, you can order an official transcript to be sent to your home college or university through Parchment for a small fee. Be sure to follow up with your home institution to confirm that your credits have been successfully added to your record.
